![]() mugen is a 2-d game engine where people can make their own fighting game or use characters, stages, and music from other fighting games. being a big fan of 2-d fighters most of my life, i used some of the time i had to take advantage. yes, now you too can beat the crap out of Vijay whenever you want. or you can use me to beat the crap out of any other character you can find. the original idea was to make a game with me and a bunch of my friends in it, but that would take a really, really long time. maybe if i win the lottery or something. all that's left for now is what you'll find here. don't get me wrong, this is a relatively high quality character. the gameplay is like street fighter and the graphics are like mortal kombat. the combo system is part street fighter and part mortal kombat. my favorite fighting game is killer instinct, but i don't know how to program well enough to incorporate a combo system like that. i'm pretty much finished with the character. some of the graphics need to be cleaned up but most of them are done. pretty much all the hit boxes are off because the program to fix them didn't work on my old computer and i'm too unmotivated to fix them now. however, everything that's required is included, which is a lot more than what can be said for most mugen characters. the buttons are set up in the light-medium-hard punch-kick style. down+hard kick is the sweep. down+hard punch is the mortal kombat style uppercut (which is the most powerful move). if the uppercut is blocked, you are pretty much guaranteed to get hit because you are disabled for a little while (just to keep things fair). medium kick launches the other guy in the air, you can catch up and hit him again if you run. back is to block in any position (standing, crouching, or air). forward+hard punch is to throw when right next to the opponent. there are only 2 special moves. one is the double jump which is done by pressing up again when you're in the air. the other is the run which can be done by hitting forward+forward (and you can hold it for as long as you want). you'll fly across the stage and through the other character. you can't be hit while running either. if you want, you could run the whole match and win everytime, but that's no fun. the combos aren't that complicated and are pretty much like street fighter. LP goes into MP, HP, LK, MK, and HK. LK goes into MP, HP, MK, and HK. These are the same when crouching. You can jump kick to start any combo. my favorite combo is jumpkick with HK, LP, LK, MK, forward+forward (to catch up), down+LK, down+HP. and then a down+HK after that if it works. you can try if you want, but i would only recommend attempting to install this game and character if you are relatively familiar with computers. if you just want to see what the engine and my character are capable of, then check out the demo video i made of various fights set to NWA. to install: extract Vijay.zip to the chars folder in mugen and add "Vijay" (without quotes) to the character list in select.def in the data folder. as far as i know, this is the only character of its kind in the world.
after i finished the video and deleted the original files, i noticed how bad the edge halo would show up in the "get hit" animations so i cleaned those graphics before putting up this page. video is the same though. i also would have liked to include a light kick to hard kick combo in the video but oh well. there's not a single hard kick in the video. and yes there are walk animations, but who wants to do that?
